This is a recent program Evgeny skated the end of last October from Russian tv. It is a classic Evgeny program. The violinist, whose name is Edvin Marton, (I finally found out his name image ) is at centre ice playing his violin. I enjoyed watching it.

Somehow I just don't like Kawaguchi-Smirnov that much. They are sort of OK.

I heard that Ushakova-Karev have split.

We won't see Bazarova-Larianov for at least two years because he failed the drug test. They were the only young Russian pair I liked.

Video of T/M's short program from this fall's Finlandia Trophy. I think even though they made some mistakes, they are improving over their previous performances. Oleg must be having a good effect on them. If they continue to get better, there could be a future for Russian pairs.

Last weekend I saw the movie 'Eastern promises'. At one point in the movie, someone plays the music and someone (may be a group; I don't remember) is singing it. The image I had in my mind was Plushenko's white and gold costume and his wonderful jumps.

For the next couple of years we may see Russia get just 1 or 2 spots in each discipline.

Ice dance seems most promising, with Domnina-Shabalin and Khokhlova-Novitski (and may be a few upcoming young teams). They will have a chance to medal (but I see strong competition from Virtue & Moir).

The article is in Russian, but the key piece of information, as posted on fsuniverse is that Yagudin wants to start training to compete as eligible. I am sure he lost his eligibility when he competed in the pros; now it's up to the ISU to make a decision.
